Hi, I'm Wren!
I have a passion for helping those who are tangled up in overwhelming emotions or complex thoughts get unstuck and find clarity and movement again. Both individuals and couples can find themselves spinning in the same cycles, or realize one day that they’re deep in a hole and need a hand getting out of it.
The foundations of my therapeutic perspective lie in prioritizing healthy connection and emotional expression. I help individuals and couples learn about their own emotions, needs, and characteristics, and practice working with who they are (or who their child is), instead of trying to change who they are. This often leads to using new tools for emotional and relational health, increasing confidence and self-advocacy, and alleviating symptoms like depression and anxiety.
In therapy sessions, my style is to show up as a real person. Perceptive folks often have a spidey sense for authentic connection, and they can tell when someone is showing up incongruently or sending mixed signals. That doesn’t feel good for anyone! So in therapy, my clients get the real me. My nature is gentle and steady, but I also laugh, cry, joke, go down rabbit holes, and use off-the-wall analogies with my clients. I firmly believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is the most impactful tool in therapy. So we work as a team, and together we explore complex problems and have breakthroughs without having to check our quirky, imperfect selves at the door.
I have experience with gifted, 2e, and HSP teens and adults in professional and personal settings. Prior to working with Beacon Wellness Team, I had the pleasure of supporting gifted students and families at a private school for gifted learners. I also worked with adults and couples through the Christian Counseling Center in San Jose, and supported youth in their development of emotional regulation with the Community Health Awareness Council in Mountain View. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University.
Outside of session, I enjoy being out and about in my community in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and daughter. I love east coast swing dancing, hands-on projects, playing and listening to music, pottery, and generally being excited about doing more things than I ever could have time for!
Take care,
Wren
