Clinical Director
Hi there,
I am grateful for the opportunity to share a little about my experience and work. I know that it can be an overwhelming process to find a therapist that you trust and I welcome the opportunity to speak with you more about your needs.
I am experienced in working with sensory processing disorders, asynchronous development and 2e experiences. I find incredible value in creating a strong relationship with my clients and their parents and I aim to make therapy both useful and enjoyable. In order to do so I incorporate sensory-based art and play activities into my work. My goal is that my clients are seen for who they are as a whole person and that they gain greater self-awareness.
When working with children and parents, I help facilitate communication in order to encourage families to be a safe and consistent environment for all members. I aim to help my clients understand and appreciate their unique self, advocate for their needs and build coping skills to help them throughout their lives.
I helped found Beacon Wellness Team with the goal of increasing support and understanding for gifted, twice-exception and neurodiverse people. Too often these remarkable people have struggled to find professionals that "get them" and too often mental health professionals are not trained to understand their unique needs. Within our team, I focus on training, coaching and supporting counselors and therapists in order to provide more authentic support to the gifted community.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Prescott College where I studied under Dr. Natiello, a protege of Dr. Carl Rogers and a visionary in the field of person-centered therapy. I have worked, among other places, at a public high school in Los Altos, at a private therapy clinic in Palo Alto, a community based counseling center in Monterey, and at a private school for gifted children and adolescents. Prior to working in the mental health field, I worked within the non-profit sector, including founding a 501(c)3 organization and as an event planner and fundraiser for the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
I am a mom to two incredible 2e children and when I am not in the office, I keep busy with their schedules and my extended family. I enjoy watercolor and oil painting, hiking, and spending time at the beach.
Warmly,
Toni
